NEW Chevrolet 348 409 Intake Manifold
Aluminum, 4 barrel, high rise, single plane, "Air Gap" design !!!
for regular small port cylinder heads... the Speed-port 6000 rpm
and, for factory "690" / "583" large port, as well as the high performance aluminum cylinder heads manufactured by Bob Walla Racing, (available right here), or Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads... the Speed-port 7000 rpm
For ALL 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 Chevrolet 348 & 409 "W Engines"... available for regular "379" , "147" , "333" , "817" small port, and "690" / "583" large port heads.
In this view above, the basic manifold has been laid out, in full scale. The runners that you see drawn in, are the INSIDES only. An outer wall approximately 1/4" thick, is added to the external dimensions of the runners.
This view shows the ends of the runners as they leave the plenum under the carburetor ( in dotted lines ). On the right, is a cross section of the inside of the plenum. Top view, is the mating flange as viewed straight on.
Bosses on the tops of the ends of the runners, are to accommodate the installation of nitrous or fuel injection nozzles.
ALL factory provisions are included, as well as an extra boss adjacent to the thermostat, so that the engine builder may utilize a temperature gauge, while retaining the stock dash panel warning lights.
and Casting number 1 of the Speed-port 6000 rpm 348 - 409 Chevrolet intake manifold !!!!

This is the first casting... a prototype. please check back shortly, for photos of the finished manifold !
During the final machining process, the carburetor mounting surface will be milled on a forward angle, near that of the factory GM W block manifolds.
Basic characteristics, application recommendations:
Small port:
Will accommodate Carter / Edelbrock "AFB" style, and Holley 4150 / 4160 style carburetors. The factory dual snorkel air cleaner should clear most factory hoods on 1958-1964 Chevrolet and Canadian Pontiac full size passenger cars.
It is recommended for high performance 348 to 430 cubic inch (CID) engines. The RPM range for maximum efficiency is highly contingent on CID. Generally speaking, engines in the 348 to 400 CID range, will achieve maximum power and efficiency from 3000 to 6500 RPM. The larger engines, nearer 2500 to 6000 RPM. A minimum actual compression ratio of 9.5:1 is recommended.
Large port:
Will accommodate Carter / Edelbrock "AFB" style, and Holley 4150 / 4160 style carburetors. The factory dual snorkel air cleaner WILL NOT CLEAR the factory hoods on 1958-1964 Chevrolet and Canadian Pontiac full size passenger cars. A modern, low profile, 14" X 3" aftermarket air cleaner is recommended.
It is recommended for high performance 409 to 496 cubic inch (CID) engines. Again, the RPM range for maximum efficiency is highly contingent on CID. Generally speaking, engines in the 409 to 450 CID range, will achieve maximum power and efficiency from 3500 to 7500 RPM. The larger engines... including the popular 474 to 496 CID strokers, nearer 3000 to 7000 RPM. A minimum actual compression ratio of 10:1 is recommended.
Note to the NUMEROUS people / businesses who have kept in contact regarding the development... Arrangements are being made to ensure that everyone on our list of buyers, will be the first to receive the manifold(s). If you wish to receive one at the earliest possible time, please email nhrastocker409@bruneauperformance.ca , or of course phone Aubrey at 1 403 854 4097.
Each manifold will be delivered with stainless steel hardware, and an assortment of fittings for coolant and vacuum connections.
