1964 Pontiac Parisenne Safari Station Wagon
Documented 409 400hp 4 speed. PS, PB, PRW, posi
This one (1) of one (1) only built rarest 409 car is being built for Andy, from Ontario.
We are now starting a complete detailed body and paint in the original Sunfire Red & Ermine White. Fully rebuilt and detailed engine / compartment, upholstery work in the correct "Rose" colour scheme, re-chroming, and a mechanical rebuild of the chassis.
Of the 1,221 1964 Parisienne station wagons built, this is the only ONE that had the L31 (400HP). Left front view is here in the new shop. Some aspects of this car are VERY GOOD! bumper is original. Paint is original.
L31 means, large port heads, aluminum intake, large AFB carb. HP "Header" exhaust manifolds, and because this engine was built on December 4th 1963, it has the Z11 mech. camshaft. 6500 RPM!
4 speed with dash-mounted tachometer was mandatory.
Here are the incredibly valuable 400/425 HP original high-perf exhaust manifolds from this car. First introduced in late 1962 on the U.S. Chevrolets along with an up-dated camshaft profile, these two items were responsible for the horsepower increase on the late 62's / 63's from the 380 / 409 HP to 400 / 425 HP.
And the work begins ..... with.......
A thorough disassembly of the body. All components will be painted seperately.
As is evident in these pictures, we have some floor rust o look after, as well as pretty extensive spare tire well rebuild.
Further disassembly is really showing the work that must be done. Welding begins !
Here is the Sunfire Red 64 Laurentian sedan that we acquired for parts. Check out the original floor in this thing ! This is going to supply all the floor parts we need.
