1964 Buick Electra 225

I wish to thank Gilles for hauling their car here from the Great White North ! We will be doing a full exterior body restoration ( complete disassembly ). Re-chroming exterior trim, full weatherstrip and detail. Also getting under the hood, tweaking the old "nailhead", and detailing the engine compartment.

Here is the car just after a washing... the "before" pictures.

Obvious VERY nice original interior. We WILL be replacing the carpet though. Engine compartment will recieve a full detailing to original.

With the dissassembly underway, here we can see that the original body is actually very solid. After the paneling was removed from the trunk interior, it was discovered that MAJOR prep work is going to be required in order to get it back to body colour ! 99% free of rust.

Here we've done a preliminary sanding down of the body. This is where any old body work will show up. We found a few minor rust pin holes that will need to be blasted and welded.

The engine and transmission are out, and the firewall is being disassembled for a complete refinishing. Engine will be freshened and fully detailed/rerstored. On the right, meet Earl ! An apprentice auto mechanic, Earl was with our shop a couple years ago... and has returned because he just couldn't get enough of us ! He has vast experience in the autobody trade, and just all around automotive skills.

Here we have a little rust repair to do at the base of the windshield pillar... has been leaking for a long time. All the glass is out, allowing us to replace ALL the old. cracked window rubbers.

With the bodywork completed on the quarters, doors and rear panel, we have now applied etching primer, followed by a coat of high build. Now one more blocking with a the long board, and a final coat of light grey high build primer. Then the basic body is ready for prep-sand and paint !
