Norman's 1969 Nova SS 396 ( 375 HP )
Original big port 4 speed car, disc brakes, 4.10 posi 12 bolt rear.
This car has belonged to my uncle, Norman from Manitoba since late 1970 !
The original engine broke a con rod in 1974. The car was then campaigned as a drag car in Super Modified and Modified Production... then finally, as you see it here, it was built into a NHRA legal Stock ( G / H ) 255HP 350 / Powerglide in the early 80's. This is how it looks today, but plans are to put it back to it's original glory with a proper big block Chevy and a 4 speed !

Yancey ( "Hedge", as we call him ! ) lives in Florida and has owned this car since 1999. Equiped with a built up 1967 327 using"462" cyl heads, connected to a Muncie M21 4 speed. Paint was new in 2001.
Steve's 1956 Chevrolet 1/2 ton step side pickup
One sharp looking truck ! If you look closely you can see "ghost flames" fogged in on the front fenders. All running gear is stock but plans are to build / install a VERY strong small journal 327 with a 4 speed.
Steve, from Alberta, also owns the 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS HT that is here in the shop for restoration. You can see it in "Current Projects".

More pictures of this car in our site in "Other Cool Cars".
The casting number 3844422 409 engine with large port heads is rebuilt with factory forged 11:1 pistons, balanced STD 3.5" stroke crankshaft and uses a Crane mechanical camshaft with .560" / .583" lift, 238/248 degrees dur. @ .050 lift. It's actually slightly less radical than the 400/425 HP factory cam with .556" lift, 250 degrees duration @ .050 lift. Cruises nice at 3000-3400 RPM with a 6300 RPM shift point.
Interior picture shows the factory tachometer. Console and shifter are of course, exactly the same as the '64 Impala SS with a natural aluminum finish instead of the "swirl" on top.
Ran 13.88 @ 103.3 MPH on factory bias ply WW tires ( cold ! ) & 4.88 rear gear, in Edmonton, Alberta on July 6th, 2001. This works out to approx. 13.60 @ 105MPH at sea level. With slicks the car would be very capable of a high 12 second run.
1964 Pontiac COMPLETE information !

Jim's 1962 Chevrolet Impala

This car is owned by my good friend, Jim, from Oregon. we just completed a re-do of his "built" 409 using Ross forged pistons and a Crane roller cam !
Genuine original design American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, restored. Note ladder bar rear suspension !
Doug's 1961 Chevrolet Impala
348 / 350 HP, 4 speed, 3.70 posi
This car belongs to Doug from Ontario, Canada. The 350 horsepower engine was only available in the U.S. produced cars and has many differences from the 250/280 HP engines that were here in Canada. Compression is 11:1, "1147" casting heads are essentially the same as the 340HP 409 heads, mechanical camshaft, and 2 1/2" outlet exhaust manifolds ! The transmission is a cast iron case Borg Warner T10.
Tough to argue with the styling of the '61 Chevy sport coupes !
Beautifully restored engine compartment and trunk area.
Paul's 1962 Chevrolet Belair Sport Coupe
409 425HP, 4 speed, 4.11 posi
This car belongs to my friend, Paul, from Alberta. I built this .020" over 11.5:1 compression 409 for him in 1998. It runs a very stout Crower hydraulic cam and Hooker headers. Transmission is a BW Super T10.
Paul plans to do the body and paint this winter. For now, driving is a lot more fun !
