388 CID 348 Chevrolet stroker engine for Roger from Connecticut !

Here is Roger's newly acquired 1963 Biscayne 2 door sedan.

The current engine was a built 348 with a factory 2X4 set-up adapted to it.

Here in our shop, we prepared the "333" heads, ported, with extensive bowl work. rotater eliminator kit, dual springs, guide plates. Heads were shipped to Connecticut, where Roger's guys there assembled the 409 cranked, .060" over 348 boock. A set of our custom design pistons were used, giving an actual compression ratio of 10.5:1, hung on a new set of Eagle BBC 6.135" H beam rods. Camshaft is A Bruneau mechanical design, using a set of Crane 1.7 aluminum roller rockers, providing a net lift at the valve of .565" / .570", 242 / 246 duration @ .050".

Here's the engine just after break in. 1 3/4" Dougs Headers. Intake is a factory 409 large port dual 4bbl, which was port matched to the regular perfomance heads. Hooked up to a brand new Super T10 4 speed, 2.64 1st gear, to a 4.11 rear gear.

We're now about to start a second project for Roger.... a place to install his aluminum head stroker 409 !
